Warnings and precautions

May cause next-day drowsiness, impaired alertness and risk of falls—avoid driving/operating machinery. Risk of dependence, misuse and withdrawal; use for shortest duration. Use caution in elderly, depression, history of substance use, respiratory disease (sleep apnoea/COPD), and liver impairment (dose reduction may be needed). Do not stop abruptly after prolonged use. Keep out of reach of children.

Do not take Zolpigress if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with severe breathing problems, sleep apnoea, or severe liver disease. Not for anyone with a history of dependence, except under specialist supervision.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (opioids, benzodiazepines, antihistamines, antipsychotics) increase sedation/respiratory depression; strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir) may increase levels; CYP3A4 inducers (rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, St John’s wort) may reduce effect; caution with SSRIs/SNRIs due to additive CNS effects; fluvoxamine may increase exposure.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack.

Expert advice for Zolpigress 10 mg Tablet

Your doctor has prescribed Zolpigress 10mg Tablet to help you fall asleep faster and sleep for longer. It is best taken without food, as a high-fat meal can reduce its absorption and effect. Take it 30 to 45 minutes before bedtime and only when you have time to sleep for at least 7 hours. It makes you feel dizzy the next morning. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. It does not affect total sleep time. However, it reduces sleep onset time and frequency of awakening at night. Never share your medication with any other person who also has a sleep problem. Inform your doctor if your sleep doesn’t improve after 7 to 10 days of treatment. Stop taking medication and inform your doctor If you experience sleep driving or memory loss. Do not stop taking medication suddenly as it may lead to anxiety, mood changes, and restlessness.
