A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Zurig 40 Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Zurig 40 Tablet contains Febuxostat (40mg). It belongs to the Xanthine oxidase inhibitor class of medicines.
Treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in gout (to lower elevated uric acid levels and prevent gout flares). Not for treatment of acute gout attack.
Febuxostat is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It reduces formation of uric acid in the body, thereby lowering serum urate levels and helping prevent urate crystal deposition and gout attacks over time.
Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Continue regularly even if you feel well; gout flare prophylaxis (e.g., colchicine/NSAID) may be advised when starting. Do not use to treat an acute gout attack.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Zurig 40 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Zurig than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Zurig are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
