Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); management of chronic stable angina and vasospastic (Prinzmetal) angina.

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes blood vessels by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow to the heart, which helps prevent angina.

Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Use with caution in severe hypotension, aortic stenosis, heart failure, and liver impairment (dose adjustment may be needed). Can cause dizziness—use caution while driving. Do not discontinue without consulting a doctor. Monitor blood pressure regularly.

Additive BP-lowering with other antihypertensives, nitrates, and alcohol. Increased amlodipine levels with strong/moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin, azole antifungals, diltiazem, verapamil, ritonavir) and grapefruit juice; reduced effect with CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin). May increase simvastatin exposure—limit simvastatin dose as per clinician advice. Caution with tacrolimus/cyclosporine (levels may increase).

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
