Amlovel 5 mg Tablet

Amlovel 5 mg Tablet contains Amlodipine besylate equivalent to Amlodipine 5 mg. Prescription required.

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), management of chronic stable angina, and vasospastic (Prinzmetal) angina; may help reduce risk of cardiovascular events by controlling blood pressure.

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle. This lowers peripheral resistance and blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart, reducing angina symptoms.

Oral tablet. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Headache,dizziness,flushing,ankle/foot swelling (peripheral edema),fatigue,palpitations,nausea

Use with caution in liver impairment (dose adjustment may be needed). May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Peripheral edema is common. Use cautiously in severe aortic stenosis, heart failure, or very low blood pressure. Inform doctor if you have heart disease, liver disease, or are taking other BP medicines.

Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering),CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin, azole antifungals, ritonavir) may increase amlodipine levels,CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin) may reduce effect,Simvastatin (limit simvastatin dose when used with amlodipine),Grapefruit/grapefruit juice (may increase levels—use with caution)
