Azilsartan medoxomil (40mg) + Chlorthalidone (6.25mg)
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when a single medicine is not enough to control BP
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II action, lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that helps the body remove excess salt and water, reducing blood volume and BP.
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; avoid missing doses. Monitor blood pressure regularly and follow salt/fluid advice given by your clinician.
dizziness, headache, fatigue, increased urination, low blood pressure, nausea, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium/low sodium), increased uric acid, increased blood sugar, dehydration
Not recommended in pregnancy; stop and consult doctor if pregnant. Use caution in kidney or liver disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalance, gout (raised uric acid) or diabetes. May cause dizziness—avoid driving until you know its effect. Periodic monitoring of BP, kidney function and electrolytes is advised.
Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), diuretics and dehydration risk, NSAIDs (may reduce effect and affect kidneys), lithium (toxicity risk), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics or salt substitutes (high potassium risk with ARB), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (higher kidney/potassium risk, avoid esp. in diabetes), steroids (electrolyte changes), antidiabetic medicines (may need dose adjustment)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
