Betabid Plus Tablet

Betabid Plus Tablet contains Propranolol (40mg) + Flunarizine (5mg) and is used for preventing migraine. Prescription required.

Prevention of Migraine

Betabid Plus 40mg/5mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: propranolol and flunarizine. Propranolol is a beta blocker, and flunarizine is a calcium channel blocker. They work together by stabilizing the reactive nerve cells and increasing the threshold for migraine activation. Flunarizine also helps in inhibiting cortical spreading depression (CSD—electric waves that move across the brain and cause pain and inflammation).

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Betabid Plus 40mg/5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Never stop this medicine suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause a sharp rise in blood pressure, worsening chest pain or a heart attack — your doctor will reduce it gradually. Tell your doctor if you have asthma or long-standing lung disease; this group can tighten the airways. If you have diabetes, be aware that this medicine can mask the early warning signs of low blood sugar, apart from sweating. Report a resting pulse that is persistently very slow, or fainting. Do not stop this medicine suddenly without asking your doctor. This medicine causes drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Report any change in mood, sleep or behaviour.

Combining with verapamil or diltiazem can slow the heart dangerously. Tell your doctor about diabetes medicines and about any asthma inhaler. Alcohol and other sedating medicines add to the drowsiness.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
