Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency, adjuvant in calcium metabolism disorders, supports bone health in osteopenia/osteoporosis, rickets/osteomalacia (as advised by doctor)
Cholecalciferol is converted in the liver and kidneys to active vitamin D (calcitriol). It increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and supports bone mineralization and muscle function.
Take by mouth as directed by your doctor. Usually taken once daily or as per prescribed schedule; preferably with food or after meals to improve absorption. Swallow the tablet with water; do not exceed recommended dose.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, weakness, headache, increased thirst, increased urination
Use with caution in kidney disease, history of kidney stones, hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases. Avoid taking additional high-dose vitamin D or calcium supplements unless prescribed. Monitor calcium/vitamin D levels if on long-term therapy. Seek medical help if symptoms of high calcium occur (confusion, severe vomiting, dehydration, irregular heartbeat).
Thiazide diuretics (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide) may increase hypercalcemia risk, digoxin and other cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants (phenytoin/phenobarbital/carbamazepine) may reduce vitamin D effect, corticosteroids may reduce vitamin D action, cholestyramine/orlistat may reduce absorption, magnesium-containing antacids (risk of hypermagnesemia in renal impairment)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Uprise D3 Tablet, Calcirol Tablet, D3 Must Tablet, Tayo 60K/Calcirol 60K (cholecalciferol) (dose form/strength may differ), Uprise D3 1000/2000 IU (strength may differ)
