Monograph
Tablet
Calcium and vitamin/mineral nutritional supplementation; used to help prevent or treat calcium/vitamin D deficiency and support bone health (e.g., osteopenia/osteoporosis support, fracture healing support).
Calcium provides the primary mineral required for bone and teeth strength and supports normal nerve and muscle function. Vitamin D (if present) improves intestinal absorption of calcium and helps maintain adequate calcium–phosphate balance for bone mineralization.
Tablets are usually taken orally with water, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset. Follow the dose as directed on the label or by a healthcare professional; do not exceed the recommended daily intake.
Constipation, stomach upset, nausea, bloating, gas
Use with caution in kidney disease, history of kidney stones, hypercalcaemia, or hyperparathyroidism. Excess supplementation may cause high calcium levels; seek medical advice if you develop persistent vomiting, constipation, excessive thirst/urination, or confusion. Separate from certain medicines (e.g., thyroid hormone, some antibiotics) as advised.
Levothyroxine (reduced absorption), tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones (reduced antibiotic absorption), bisphosphonates (reduced absorption), iron salts (reduced absorption), thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with high calcium)
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
