Caprin 5000 IU Injection

Caprin 5000 IU Injection contains Heparin Sodium 5000 IU per mL (Injection). Prescription required.

Prevention and treatment of blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism), prevention of clotting during dialysis/IV lines and in certain cardiac conditions as prescribed.

Heparin is an anticoagulant that enhances the activity of antithrombin III. This inhibits thrombin and factor Xa, reducing formation and growth of clots.

Given only by a healthcare professional as IV infusion/IV or SC injection. Dose and monitoring (aPTT/anti-Xa, platelet count) depend on indication. Do not self-inject unless trained.

Bleeding, bruising, injection site pain, low platelets (HIT), anemia, elevated liver enzymes, hypersensitivity

High bleeding risk; seek urgent care for unusual bleeding, black stools, blood in urine, severe headache or weakness. Risk of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia; monitor platelets. Use caution in recent surgery, ulcers, uncontrolled hypertension, liver disease. Antidote is protamine sulfate under medical supervision.

Aspirin and other antiplatelets (clopidogrel), NSAIDs, warfarin/DOACs, thrombolytics (alteplase/streptokinase), SSRIs/SNRIs (bleeding risk), herbal products like ginkgo/garlic (bleeding risk)

Store as per label, typically below 25°C, protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep in original carton.
