Tretinoin topical solution 0.05% w/v (commonly)
Acne (especially comedonal acne/blackheads and whiteheads), photoaging (fine wrinkles, hyperpigmentation) under medical advice
Tretinoin (a retinoid/vitamin A derivative) increases skin cell turnover and normalizes follicular keratinization, helping unclog pores and reduce comedones. It also reduces inflammation and improves pigmentation and texture over time.
For external use only. Apply a very thin layer once daily at night on clean, completely dry skin over affected area; avoid eyes, lips, nostrils and broken/irritated skin. Start with alternate nights if irritation occurs; use moisturizer and daily sunscreen. Do not apply immediately after washing; wait 20–30 minutes.
Skin irritation, redness, dryness, peeling/flaking, burning/stinging, itching, increased sun sensitivity, initial acne flare
Avoid excessive sun/UV exposure; use broad-spectrum sunscreen. Do not use on eczematous, sunburned, cut or very irritated skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes; rinse with water if contact occurs. Use with caution in sensitive skin; reduce frequency if severe irritation. Not recommended in pregnancy unless prescribed; discontinue and consult doctor if severe swelling, blistering, or persistent severe irritation occurs.
May increase irritation with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur/resorcinol products, astringents/alcohol-based cleansers, abrasive soaps/scrubs; avoid concurrent topical photosensitizers; if using benzoyl peroxide, apply at different times (e.g., benzoyl peroxide morning, tretinoin night).
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct light. Keep container tightly closed; solution may be flammable due to alcohol base—keep away from flames. Keep out of reach of children.
