Syrup
Prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency (scurvy), adjunct in common cold and infections, supports wound healing and recovery, dietary supplementation in growing children
Ascorbic acid is an essential water‑soluble vitamin and antioxidant. It is required for collagen synthesis, tissue repair, and immune function, and improves absorption of non‑heme iron. Supplementation corrects deficiency and replenishes body stores of vitamin C.
Oral syrup. Shake well before use. Measure dose with a calibrated cup/spoon and give as advised by the physician; can be taken with or without food (preferably after food if stomach upset occurs). Rinse the measuring device after use.
Nausea, stomach upset, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, headache
Do not exceed recommended dose. Use with caution in children with history of kidney stones, hyperoxaluria, severe renal impairment, or G6PD deficiency (very high doses may increase hemolysis risk). In diabetes, check sugar content of syrup. Stop and seek medical advice if rash, breathing difficulty, or severe gastrointestinal symptoms occur.
May increase absorption of iron (caution with iron overload disorders), may affect warfarin effect at high doses, antacids containing aluminium (in renal impairment), deferoxamine (high-dose vitamin C may increase iron toxicity), certain chemotherapy/radiation (antioxidants—consult doctor)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
