Crystal violet is a topical antiseptic dye with antibacterial and antifungal activity. It acts by disrupting microbial cell wall/cell membrane functions and inhibiting organism growth on skin/mucosa.

For external use only. Apply a thin layer/paint to the affected area as directed by a clinician; avoid large areas and prolonged use. Prevent contact with eyes and mouth unless specifically prescribed for oral lesions.

Skin irritation, burning sensation, staining of skin/clothes, allergic rash (rare), ulceration with excessive use (rare)

For external use only unless prescribed otherwise. Avoid use on large open wounds, deep wounds, or severe burns. Do not use if hypersensitive; discontinue if severe irritation occurs. Not recommended for use in infants or on mucous membranes without medical advice.

No clinically significant drug interactions expected with topical use

Store at room temperature below 25°C, tightly closed, away from light. Keep away from children; may stain surfaces.
