Injection

Treatment of inflammatory and allergic conditions requiring corticosteroid therapy (e.g., severe allergies, asthma exacerbations, rheumatoid arthritis/osteoarthritis flares, bursitis, tendinitis, synovitis). Used for intra‑articular, intralesional, soft tissue or intramuscular administration as prescribed.

Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid that suppresses inflammation and modulates immune responses by altering gene transcription and reducing release of inflammatory mediators. It decreases swelling, pain, redness and allergic symptoms.

Injection to be administered only by a healthcare professional. Route and dose depend on condition (intra‑articular/soft tissue/intralesional/IM); shake well before use as it is a suspension. Follow the prescribed schedule; do not stop long-term therapy abruptly without medical advice.

Prescription-only corticosteroid. Risk of serious infections; avoid exposure to chickenpox/measles and report fever/sore throat. May worsen diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma/cataract, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer disease; can cause adrenal suppression with repeated/high doses—taper if used long term. Avoid live vaccines during high-dose systemic therapy. Use caution in pregnancy/lactation and in patients with active/latent TB or other chronic infections.

Live vaccines (reduced response/infection risk), NSAIDs (GI ulcer/bleed risk), anticoagulants like warfarin (altered INR), antidiabetics/insulin (may need dose adjustment), CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin) increase steroid effects, CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine) reduce effect, diuretics/amphotericin B (hypokalemia), ciclosporin (increased toxicity)

Store at controlled room temperature (generally 20–25°C). Protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
