Diltiazem hydrochloride 90 mg (extended-release)

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); prevention and treatment of angina pectoris (chest pain due to coronary artery disease)

Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium entry into cardiac and vascular smooth muscle. It relaxes blood vessels and reduces heart rate and cardiac workload, thereby lowering blood pressure and relieving angina.

Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily for XL/extended-release tablets. Swallow whole; do not crush, chew or split. Can be taken with or without food, but take at the same time each day.

Use with caution in low blood pressure, heart failure, conduction disorders (e.g., sick sinus syndrome, AV block) unless paced, and liver/kidney impairment. May cause bradycardia, dizziness or fainting—avoid driving if affected. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice. Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly.

Beta-blockers (e.g., metoprolol, propranolol) and digoxin (increased risk of bradycardia/AV block), ivabradine (avoid), statins metabolized by CYP3A4 (e.g., simvastatin, atorvastatin—higher levels), CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers (e.g., clarithromycin, azoles, rifampicin), antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), cyclosporine (increased levels)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister and out of reach of children.
