Domstal Suspension

Domperidone 5 mg/5 ml (oral suspension)

Nausea and vomiting, indigestion/dyspepsia with bloating and fullness, gastro-oesophageal reflux symptoms

Domperidone is a dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist with prokinetic and antiemetic action. It increases gastric motility and accelerates stomach emptying, and blocks dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone to reduce nausea and vomiting.

Oral suspension. Shake well before use. Take the prescribed dose using a measuring cup/spoon, usually 15–30 minutes before meals; may be taken before bedtime if advised. Dose and duration should be as directed by the doctor (especially in children).

Dry mouth, headache, dizziness, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea, increased prolactin levels, breast tenderness/galactorrhea

Prescription (Schedule H) medicine. Do not use if you have known allergy to domperidone, gastrointestinal bleeding/obstruction/perforation, or prolactin-secreting pituitary tumor (prolactinoma). Use with caution in liver impairment; dose adjustment/avoidance may be needed. Domperidone may prolong QT interval and cause serious heart rhythm problems; use lowest effective dose for shortest duration, especially in older adults or those with heart disease, electrolyte imbalance, or taking QT-prolonging medicines. Seek urgent care for palpitations, fainting, or irregular heartbeat.
