Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) such as sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itchy/watery eyes; also used for urticaria (hives) and itching due to allergy.
Fexofenadine is a second-generation antihistamine that selectively blocks peripheral H1 histamine receptors. This reduces histamine-mediated allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, and runny nose with minimal drowsiness compared to older antihistamines.
Take 1 tablet by mouth as directed by a doctor, usually once daily. Can be taken with or without food; avoid taking with fruit juices (apple/orange/grapefruit) and keep a gap from aluminium/magnesium antacids (about 2 hours). Swallow whole with water.
Headache, dizziness, nausea, dyspepsia, dry mouth, fatigue, drowsiness (rare)
Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed). Do not exceed recommended dose. May cause dizziness in some people—avoid driving if affected. Seek medical help for severe allergic reactions, swelling, or breathing difficulty. Not intended to treat acute severe anaphylaxis.
Fruit juices (apple/orange/grapefruit) may reduce absorption, aluminium/magnesium-containing antacids may reduce absorption, erythromycin, ketoconazole, ritonavir (may increase fexofenadine levels)
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
