Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); may be used to reduce risk of cardiovascular events (heart attack/stroke) in high-risk patients as advised by a doctor.

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks the action of angiotensin II on AT1 receptors, causing blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart.

Take this tablet exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice; regular BP monitoring is recommended.

Dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure, increased potassium (hyperkalemia), nausea, diarrhea, back pain

Not recommended in pregnancy (especially 2nd/3rd trimester) due to risk of fetal harm; consult doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Use caution in kidney disease, renal artery stenosis, dehydration, low BP, liver impairment, and in elderly. Monitor kidney function and serum potassium, especially if taking diuretics or other potassium-raising medicines. May cause dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected.

Potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone, amiloride), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (higher risk of kidney impairment/hyperkalemia—avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, diclofenac—may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), lithium (toxicity risk), other antihypertensives/diuretics (additive BP lowering)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place; protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
