Eptoin 100 Tablet

Eptoin 100 Tablet contains Phenytoin (100mg) and is used for epilepsy (control of focal seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures). Prescription required.

Epilepsy (control of focal seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures), prevention of seizures after head injury or neurosurgery (as prescribed)

Phenytoin blocks voltage-gated sodium channels and stabilizes overactive neuronal membranes. This reduces abnormal electrical discharges that trigger seizures.

Take exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time daily, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly. Regular blood level monitoring may be advised; maintain consistent brand and dosing schedule.

Dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, unsteady gait, nystagmus, gum swelling (gingival hyperplasia), acne, increased hair growth, rash

May cause serious skin reactions (SJS/TEN) and hypersensitivity; stop and seek care if rash, fever, facial swelling occur. Long-term use can cause gum enlargement and bone weakening; maintain good oral hygiene and consider calcium/vitamin D as advised. Interacts with many medicines and reduces oral contraceptive effectiveness. Use caution in liver disease; do not abruptly discontinue due to seizure risk.

Warfarin (INR changes), oral contraceptives (reduced efficacy), carbamazepine, valproate, phenobarbital, benzodiazepines, azole antifungals, isoniazid, rifampicin, macrolide antibiotics, corticosteroids, alcohol (alters levels)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.
