Relief of mild to moderate pain (headache, toothache, body ache, period pain), fever, inflammation in musculoskeletal conditions

Ibuprofen is an NSAID that inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis. This lowers pain, fever and inflammation.

Take by mouth as directed by a doctor. Usually taken after food or with milk to reduce stomach upset; swallow with water. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.

May cause stomach irritation, ulcer or bleeding—risk increases with higher doses, longer use, alcohol, smoking, or in elderly. Use with caution in asthma, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, hypertension, dehydration, and in patients with history of peptic ulcer/bleeding. Avoid in known NSAID allergy. Not recommended in the last trimester of pregnancy. Stop and seek care if black stools, vomiting blood, severe abdominal pain, swelling, breathing difficulty or severe rash occurs.
