Tablet
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when a single medicine is not sufficient; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events associated with uncontrolled BP as advised by physician
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II effects, lowering blood pressure. Metoprolol succinate is a cardioselective beta-blocker that slows heart rate and reduces the force of contraction, lowering blood pressure and cardiac workload.
Oral tablet; take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time. Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water (do not crush/chew if extended-release). Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
dizziness, headache, tiredness, slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure, nausea, diarrhea, cold extremities
Monitor BP and pulse regularly. May cause dizziness—use caution while driving. Do not stop metoprolol abruptly (risk of angina/arrhythmia). Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms), heart block, bradycardia, heart failure, liver/kidney impairment, dehydration. Telmisartan can affect kidney function and potassium—monitor creatinine and potassium; avoid potassium supplements/salt substitutes unless advised. Contraindicated in pregnancy; avoid in patients with history of hypersensitivity to components.
Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), diuretics (first-dose hypotension), NSAIDs (reduced antihypertensive effect, kidney risk), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalemia), lithium (toxicity), digoxin (levels may increase with telmisartan), verapamil/diltiazem/amiodarone (bradycardia/heart block), clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycemia), CYP2D6 inhibitors like fluoxetine/paroxetine/quinidine (increase metoprolol levels)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place; protect from moisture and light; keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
