Meprol XL 50 Tablet

Meprol Xl 50 Tablet contains Metoprolol succinate prolonged-release 50 mg. Prescription required.

Hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris, chronic heart failure (stable), rate control in certain tachyarrhythmias (e.g., atrial fibrillation), secondary prevention after myocardial infarction (as prescribed)

Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic blocker. It reduces heart rate and the force of contraction, lowering blood pressure and myocardial oxygen demand. The prolonged-release formulation provides sustained 24-hour control.

Oral extended-release tablet. Take once daily at the same time each day, preferably with or immediately after food; swallow whole (do not crush/chew). Dose and duration as advised by the doctor; do not stop abruptly.

Tiredness, dizziness, slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure, headache, nausea, diarrhea, cold hands/feet, sleep disturbance

Do not stop suddenly (may worsen angina/trigger heart attack). Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may cause bronchospasm), diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms), thyroid disorders (may mask hyperthyroidism), peripheral vascular disease, and liver impairment. Contraindicated/avoid without specialist advice in severe bradycardia, heart block, cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, severe hypotension. Monitor pulse and BP; seek help for wheezing, fainting, swelling, or worsening breathlessness.

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), verapamil/diltiazem, amiodarone, digoxin (increased bradycardia/AV block risk), clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped improperly), NSAIDs (may reduce BP-lowering effect), insulin/oral antidiabetics (mask hypoglycemia), CYP2D6 inhibitors like fluoxetine/paroxetine/quinidine (may increase metoprolol levels), alcohol (may enhance dizziness)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
