Metgem 1gm Tablet ER is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Metgem 1gm Tablet ER is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Metformin is an anti-diabetic medication (biguanide). It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying sugar (glucose) absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Metgem 1gm Tablet ER is to be taken with food.

Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Metgem 1gm Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metgem 1gm Tablet ER may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br/>Metgem 1gm Tablet ER is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
