Metolar XR 100 10S

Metoprolol succinate prolonged-release 100 mg (equivalent to metoprolol 95 mg) per tablet

Hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris, chronic heart failure (stable), prevention of recurrent myocardial infarction, control of heart rate in tachyarrhythmias (as advised by doctor)

Metoprolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic blocker. It reduces heart rate and the force of contraction, thereby lowering blood pressure and myocardial oxygen demand. In heart failure, it helps improve cardiac function over time by reducing sympathetic overactivity.

Oral prolonged-release tablet. Take once daily at the same time each day; swallow whole with water (do not crush/chew/split). Can be taken with or without food; follow your doctor’s prescribed dose and taper only under medical supervision.

Bradycardia (slow pulse),dizziness,fatigue,low blood pressure,cold hands/feet,headache,nausea,diarrhoea,constipation,shortness of breath,sleep disturbances

Do not stop suddenly (risk of worsening angina/heart attack); dose should be tapered. Use with caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes (may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms), thyroid disorders (may mask hyperthyroidism), peripheral vascular disease, and severe renal/hepatic impairment. Contraindicated in severe bradycardia, second/third-degree AV block, cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, and severe hypotension unless specifically directed. Monitor BP and pulse; seek urgent care for fainting, wheezing, or very slow pulse.

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension),calcium channel blockers like verapamil/diltiazem (risk of bradycardia/AV block),digoxin (bradycardia),antiarrhythmics e.g. amiodarone (conduction issues),clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped abruptly),NSAIDs (may reduce antihypertensive effect),CYP2D6 inhibitors like fluoxetine/paroxetine/quinidine (increase metoprolol levels),insulin/oral antidiabetics (masked hypoglycaemia),anaesthetics (enhanced hypotension/bradycardia)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
