Mouth Ulcer Gel 10 g is a prescription medicine containing Choline Salicylate (8.7% W/W) + Lignocaine (2% W/W). It is used for muscle pain, joint pain, sprains, strains, backache, minor injuries, wound care and first aid. It belongs to the group of medicines called Counter-irritant / topical anti-inflammatory and First-aid agent.
Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and rub it in gently. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Mouth Ulcer Gel 10 g are burning or stinging, redness, skin irritation and rash. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Mouth Ulcer Gel 10 g works.
Most side effects of Mouth Ulcer are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and rub it in gently. Wash your hands before and after use, unless your hands are the area being treated. This is for use on the skin only — do not swallow it. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Choline Salicylate and Lidocaine. Choline Salicylate is applied to the skin over a painful area, where it produces a warming or cooling sensation and reduces local pain and inflammation. Lidocaine supports the care of a minor injury or wound.
For external use only. Keep it away from the eyes, mouth and broken skin. Do not apply a heating pad or hot water bottle over the treated area — this can cause a burn. Do not bandage tightly over it unless your doctor has told you to. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying, unless your hands are the area being treated. Stop if the skin becomes severely irritated or blisters. For external use only, unless the pack says otherwise. See a doctor for a deep, dirty or heavily bleeding wound, an animal bite, or any wound showing signs of infection. Check that your tetanus cover is current after any dirty or penetrating wound.
Take the missed dose of Mouth Ulcer as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use, but swallowing these preparations can be serious, particularly in children. It is unlikely from external use. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.
