Myotan Ct 40/12.5 mg Tablet

Myotan Ct 40/12.5 mg Tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg + Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg. Prescription required.

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when single-drug therapy is inadequate; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events related to uncontrolled BP.

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that increases salt and water excretion, reducing blood volume and BP. The combination provides additive BP-lowering effect.

Take as prescribed by doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow tablet with water. Because it contains a diuretic, taking it in the morning may reduce nighttime urination. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and electrolytes (especially potassium, sodium, magnesium). Risk of dehydration and hypotension, especially in elderly, on low-salt diet, or with vomiting/diarrhoea. Use caution in kidney impairment, liver disease, gout (may raise uric acid), diabetes (may affect glucose), and in patients with electrolyte imbalance. Avoid use in severe renal impairment/anuria. Seek help if swelling of face/lips, breathing difficulty (angioedema), severe dizziness/fainting, or decreased urine occurs.

Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), NSAIDs (reduced effect and kidney risk), lithium (increased lithium toxicity), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics/salt substitutes (risk of high potassium with telmisartan), diuretics or corticosteroids (electrolyte imbalance), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (increased renal/hyperkalaemia risk; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), digoxin (telmisartan may increase levels), antidiabetic medicines (may require dose adjustment)
