Treatment and prevention of potassium deficiency (hypokalaemia), potassium supplementation in patients on diuretics or with poor dietary intake, correction of potassium depletion due to vomiting/diarrhoea as advised by doctor
Provides potassium, an essential electrolyte needed for normal nerve conduction, muscle contraction and heart rhythm. Replaces depleted potassium stores and helps maintain normal serum potassium levels.
Oral solution. Take only as prescribed. Usually taken after meals and diluted in water/juice to reduce stomach irritation; measure dose with provided cup/spoon. Do not exceed the recommended dose; do not take undiluted unless advised.
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, stomach irritation, flatulence
Risk of high potassium (hyperkalaemia) which can cause dangerous heart rhythm problems—seek urgent care for weakness, tingling, slow/irregular heartbeat. Use with caution/avoid in kidney disease, dehydration, untreated Addison’s disease, severe tissue breakdown, or hyperkalaemia. Do not use with potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Regular monitoring of serum potassium and kidney function may be needed. Use caution in patients with heart disease or on medicines that raise potassium.
