Monograph
Tablet
Nutritional supplement for biotin/vitamin deficiency; supports hair health (hair fall due to deficiency), nail brittleness, and skin health; adjunct for general weakness and recovery where nutritional support is needed.
Biotin is a B-complex vitamin that acts as a cofactor for carboxylase enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis and energy metabolism. Adequate biotin supports keratin infrastructure, helping maintain healthy hair and nails; added vitamins/minerals help correct nutritional gaps and support overall metabolism.
Tablet. Take 1 tablet once daily after food or as directed by a physician. Swallow whole with water; do not exceed the recommended daily dose unless advised.
Nausea, stomach upset, bloating, diarrhea, headache, skin rash (rare)
Not a substitute for a balanced diet. If pregnant or breastfeeding, have thyroid disorders, kidney/liver disease, or are on long-term medicines, consult a doctor before use. Biotin may interfere with certain lab tests (e.g., thyroid function tests, troponin and some hormone assays); inform your doctor/lab and consider stopping biotin 48–72 hours before testing if advised. Discontinue and seek medical advice if allergic reactions occur.
May interfere with lab test results (thyroid assays, troponin, some immunoassays). Anticonvulsants (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital) may reduce biotin levels. Long-term antibiotics may reduce gut synthesis of biotin. High-dose biotin may affect interpretation of some lab values.
