Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension
How It Works
Tafluprost is a prostaglandin F2α analogue. It increases uveoscleral (and to some extent trabecular) outflow of aqueous humour from the eye, thereby lowering intraocular pressure.
Directions for Use
For ophthalmic use only. Typically instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening, or as directed by an ophthalmologist. Do not use more than once daily. If using other eye drops, keep a 5–10 minute gap. Remove contact lenses before use and reinsert after at least 15 minutes (if applicable).
For ophthalmic use only. May cause permanent increase in iris pigmentation and eyelid darkening and may increase eyelash length/thickness; changes may be irreversible. Use with caution in patients with uveitis/iritis, macular edema risk (especially aphakic/pseudophakic with torn posterior capsule), or history of herpetic keratitis. Avoid touching dropper tip to prevent contamination. If eye pain, marked redness, vision changes, or signs of infection occur, seek medical advice. Use in children only if prescribed.
Drug Interactions
30049099
No significant systemic drug interactions expected due to low systemic absorption. Do not use two prostaglandin/prostamide glaucoma drops together without specialist advice (may reduce IOP-lowering effect or increase adverse effects). Other topical eye medicines: separate by 5–10 minutes.
Storage Instructions
Store as per label; generally keep below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed. Discard within the in-use period stated on pack (commonly 4 weeks after opening).
