Cream
Bacterial skin infections such as infected cuts/wounds, abrasions, minor burns, boils, impetigo, infected eczema/dermatitis, and prevention/treatment of secondary bacterial infection in minor skin lesions.
Framycetin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. This stops growth and leads to killing of susceptible bacteria on the skin.
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer 2-3 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Can be covered with a sterile dressing if advised. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and inside nose; wash hands after use.
Mild burning or stinging, itching, redness, irritation, rash, dryness, allergic contact dermatitis
Use only on skin; do not apply to eyes or large areas of broken/damaged skin unless prescribed. Prolonged or excessive use may cause fungal overgrowth or bacterial resistance. Stop and consult a doctor if severe irritation/allergy occurs or if no improvement in a few days. Use with caution in patients with known allergy to aminoglycosides; avoid use in deep puncture wounds or serious burns unless under medical supervision.
Increased risk of aminoglycoside toxicity if significant absorption occurs with other aminoglycosides (e.g., gentamicin, amikacin, tobramycin, neomycin) or other nephrotoxic/ototoxic drugs (rare with topical use).
Store below 25°C. Protect from heat and direct light. Keep cap tightly closed; do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
