Helps in productive cough (wet cough) with thick mucus, chest congestion and wheezing associated with bronchitis/airway infections.
LS combinations typically contain a bronchodilator to relax airway muscles and open the airways, a mucolytic to thin and loosen mucus, and an expectorant to help expel phlegm. This reduces chest congestion and makes coughing out mucus easier.
Oral syrup. Shake well before use. Measure with a dosing cup/spoon and give only the dose prescribed by the doctor (paediatric dose varies by age/weight). Can be taken with or without food; give with food if stomach upset occurs. Maintain adequate fluids.
Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, tremor, palpitations, restlessness, dry mouth
Use only on medical advice in children. Do not use for dry cough without mucus unless advised. Use with caution in asthma, heart disease/arrhythmia, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, seizure disorder, liver or kidney impairment. Seek urgent care if breathing worsens, high fever persists, blood in sputum, severe dizziness, or allergic reaction occurs. Avoid overdose and avoid combining with other cough/cold products containing similar ingredients.
Other beta-agonists/bronchodilators, beta-blockers (may reduce effect), MAO inhibitors/tricyclic antidepressants (may increase cardiovascular effects), diuretics/corticosteroids (may increase risk of low potassium), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with hypokalemia), antitussives like codeine/dextromethorphan (may hinder mucus clearance)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
