Monograph
Telekast F Tab 15S contains Montelukast 10 mg + Fexofenadine 120 mg (per tablet). Prescription required.
Allergic rhinitis (seasonal/perennial) with symptoms such as sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itchy/watery eyes; allergy-associated cough or wheeze as advised by doctor.
Fexofenadine is a non-sedating antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors to reduce sneezing, itching and runny nose. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks inflammatory leukotrienes, reducing nasal congestion and allergy-related inflammation.
Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually 1 tablet once daily. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and swallow whole with water. Avoid fruit juices (apple/orange/grapefruit) close to dosing as they may reduce fexofenadine absorption.
Headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, dry mouth, fatigue, drowsiness (rare), rash
Not for relief of acute asthma attack. Use with caution in liver disease. Montelukast has been associated with neuropsychiatric effects (sleep disturbance, agitation, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts); stop and seek medical help if such symptoms occur. Use caution while driving if dizziness occurs. Inform doctor about all medicines and allergies.
Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium may reduce fexofenadine absorption (separate by ~2 hours), erythromycin, ketoconazole, rifampicin, gemfibrozil, other antihistamines/alcohol (may increase drowsiness in some), NSAIDs/aspirin sensitivity in asthma (clinical caution)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
