Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); may be used to reduce risk of cardiovascular events (heart attack/stroke) in high-risk patients as advised by doctor

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks angiotensin II (AT1) receptors, causing blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart.

Oral tablet. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure, increased potassium (hyperkalemia), nausea, back pain

Not recommended in pregnancy (especially 2nd/3rd trimester) due to risk of fetal harm; stop and consult doctor if pregnancy occurs. Use caution in kidney disease, renal artery stenosis, dehydration, severe vomiting/diarrhea, or low blood pressure. Monitor kidney function and serum potassium, especially in elderly and those with diabetes or kidney impairment. Risk of hyperkalemia—avoid potassium supplements/salt substitutes unless advised. Use caution in liver impairment.

Potassium supplements/salt substitutes, potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone/eplerenone/amiloride), ACE inhibitors or other ARBs/aliskiren (higher risk of kidney issues and hyperkalemia; avoid especially in diabetes), NSAIDs (ibuprofen/diclofenac—may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), diuretics (may increase risk of low BP)

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
