Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when single-drug therapy is not sufficient

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking AT1 receptors, lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that increases salt and water excretion, reducing blood volume and blood pressure. The combination provides additive BP control.

Oral tablet; take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose; do not double dose.

dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure, increased urination, nausea, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium/low sodium), increased uric acid, increased blood sugar, muscle cramps

Prescription medicine. May cause dizziness—avoid driving until you know the effect. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function (serum creatinine), and electrolytes (potassium, sodium). Risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, especially in elderly or with vomiting/diarrhoea. Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment, gout, diabetes. Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm fetus) and generally avoid during breastfeeding unless advised. Seek medical help for severe weakness, fainting, reduced urine output, or swelling/angioedema.

NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, diclofenac) may reduce effect and increase kidney risk, lithium (toxicity risk), other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalemia risk with telmisartan), ACE inhibitors/aliskiren (renal/hyperkalemia risk; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), corticosteroids (electrolyte changes), antidiabetic medicines (may need dose adjustment)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
