Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), especially when single-drug therapy is not adequate; helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events like stroke and heart attack by controlling BP.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of angiotensin II. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that widens blood vessels by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle. Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone.
Take orally as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice. Monitor blood pressure regularly.
Dizziness, headache, ankle/leg swelling (edema), flushing, fatigue, palpitations, nausea
Not recommended in pregnancy; stop and consult a doctor if pregnancy occurs. Use caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, dehydration/low salt, heart failure, aortic stenosis, or history of angioedema. May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Monitor kidney function and potassium; risk of hypotension especially in volume-depleted patients.
Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (hyperkalemia risk), NSAIDs (may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), lithium (increased lithium toxicity risk), aliskiren (avoid in diabetes; kidney/BP risks), ACE inhibitors/other ARBs (generally avoid dual blockade), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers affecting amlodipine (e.g., clarithromycin, azoles, rifampicin), grapefruit juice (may increase amlodipine levels in some patients)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
