Telmodor 40 Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) and is used for hypertension (high blood pressure). Prescription required.
Telmodor 40 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Telmisartan (40mg). It is used for hypertension (high blood pressure), reduction of cardiovascular risk (heart attack and stroke) in high-risk patients when appropriate. It belongs to the group of medicines called Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).
Oral tablet. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Telmodor 40 Tablet are dizziness, low blood pressure, headache and fatigue. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Telmodor 40 Tablet works.
Most side effects of Telmodor are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Oral tablet. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II action, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart.
Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm the unborn baby), especially 2nd/3rd trimester. Use caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, dehydration/low salt, and in patients prone to low blood pressure. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium. Seek care for fainting, severe dizziness, swelling of face/lips (angioedema), or reduced urine output.
If you miss a dose of Telmodor 40mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone, amiloride), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (higher risk of kidney issues/hyperkalemia; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), NSAIDs (ibuprofen/diclofenac; may reduce effect and affect kidneys), lithium (increased lithium levels), diuretics (may increase first-dose hypotension).
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
