Monograph
Thyroneed 112 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Thyroxine (50mcg). It is used for hypothyroidism, thyroid hormone replacement after thyroidectomy or radioiodine therapy and suppression of TSH in certain thyroid conditions as advised by a doctor. It belongs to the group of medicines called Thyroid hormone (synthetic T4).
Tablet for oral use. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Thyroneed 112 Tablet are palpitations, fast heartbeat, tremors and nervousness. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Thyroneed 112 Tablet works.
Most side effects of Thyroneed are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Tablet for oral use. Take once daily on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning 30–60 minutes before breakfast, with a full glass of water. Take at the same time each day and avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids within 4 hours. Dose is individualized based on TSH/T4; do not stop or change dose without medical advice.
Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a natural thyroid hormone. It is converted to active T3 in the body and helps normalize metabolism, energy levels, temperature regulation, and TSH levels in hypothyroid patients.
Use only under medical supervision; excess dose can cause hyperthyroidism symptoms and cardiac strain. Caution in elderly and patients with coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, hypertension, adrenal insufficiency, diabetes, osteoporosis. Correct adrenal insufficiency before starting. Regular monitoring of TSH/free T4 is required, especially after dose changes, pregnancy, or interacting medicines. Not for weight loss/obesity treatment. If you experience chest pain, severe palpitations, or shortness of breath, seek medical help.
If you miss a dose of Thyroneed 50 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, chest pain, tremor, fever and dangerous heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Calcium salts,iron supplements,antacids containing aluminium/magnesium,sucralfate,cholestyramine/colestipol,sevelamer,orlistat (reduce absorption); rifampicin,carbamazepine,phenytoin,phenobarbital,sertraline (may reduce effect); warfarin (increased anticoagulant effect); antidiabetic medicines/insulin (dose adjustment may be needed); propranolol/amiodarone (affect thyroid hormone metabolism); oestrogens (may increase dose requirement)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep tablets in original packaging and out of reach of children.
