Levothyroxine sodium 125 mcg (as thyroxine)

Treatment of hypothyroidism, replacement therapy after thyroidectomy, thyroid hormone suppression therapy in certain thyroid conditions (as prescribed)

Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone T4. It is converted to T3 in the body and restores normal thyroid hormone levels, helping regulate metabolism, energy, heart rate and body temperature.

Oral tablet. Take once daily exactly as prescribed, preferably on an empty stomach 30–60 minutes before breakfast with water. Avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids or multivitamins within 4 hours; take at the same time each day and do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Use only under medical supervision; dose is individualized based on TSH/T4 levels. Overdose can cause symptoms of hyperthyroidism and serious cardiac effects. Use with caution in heart disease (angina, arrhythmias), elderly, adrenal insufficiency (must be treated before starting), diabetes (may alter glucose control) and osteoporosis risk. Not for weight loss; high doses can be dangerous. Monitor thyroid function tests periodically, especially after dose changes and during pregnancy.

Calcium salts,iron supplements,aluminium/magnesium antacids,sucralfate,cholestyramine/colestipol,sevelamer (reduced absorption); proton pump inhibitors and high-fibre/soy diets may reduce effect; warfarin (increased anticoagulant effect); antidiabetic medicines/insulin (dose adjustment may be needed); digoxin (effect may decrease); carbamazepine,phenytoin,phenobarbital,rifampicin (increased metabolism); amiodarone (affects thyroid function)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original pack and out of reach of children.
