Treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency, rickets/osteomalacia, adjunct in osteoporosis management, support in hypocalcaemia due to vitamin D deficiency
Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is converted in the body to active vitamin D, which increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. It helps maintain normal bone mineralisation and supports muscle function.
Oral syrup. Shake well before use. Take the prescribed dose using a measuring cup/spoon, preferably after food or with milk to improve absorption. Duration and dose depend on age, vitamin D level and indication; follow doctor’s advice.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, weakness, increased thirst, increased urination
Use only under medical advice if you have hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, kidney stones, severe renal impairment or sarcoidosis. Excess vitamin D can cause toxicity (high calcium) with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, confusion, excessive thirst/urination. Monitor calcium/vitamin D levels if on high-dose or long-term therapy. Keep out of reach of children.
Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital and rifampicin (reduced vitamin D effect), corticosteroids (reduced effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), magnesium-containing antacids (risk of hypermagnesaemia in renal impairment)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light. Keep bottle tightly closed; do not freeze.
Uprise D3 Syrup, D-Rise 400/800 Syrup, Calcirol D3 Drops/Syrup, Depura D3 Drops/Syrup, Tayo 60K Oral Solution (if high-dose is prescribed)
