How it works

VALprol -CR 750 Tablet works by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain. They increase the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a natural chemical that helps calm nerve activity, and reduce excessive firing of brain cells. This combined action helps prevent the abnormal electrical signals that lead to seizures and supports effective seizure control in epilepsy.

Directions for use

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. VALprol -CR 750 Tablet should be taken with or after food.

Side effects

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Warnings & precautions

Never stop or change an anti-epileptic on your own. Stopping abruptly can cause prolonged, dangerous seizures. Sodium valproate and divalproex must not be used by anyone who is pregnant or could become pregnant unless a specialist has confirmed there is no alternative — they cause serious birth defects and developmental problems. Effective contraception is essential. Seek urgent care for any rash, especially in the first weeks — a rash with fever, blistering or peeling can be life-threatening. Report yellowing of the eyes or skin, persistent vomiting, unusual bruising or severe tiredness at once. Tell your doctor about any change in mood or any thoughts of harming yourself. Take the same brand each time unless your neurologist has agreed to a change; switching can alter seizure control.

Drug interactions

This group interacts very widely, including with contraceptives, blood thinners and other anti-epileptics. Give your doctor a full list of what you take. Hormonal contraception may become unreliable — ask your doctor which method to use.
