Sodium Valproate (200mg) + Valproic Acid (87mg)
Treatment of epilepsy/seizure disorders (including generalized and partial seizures); prevention of migraine (as prescribed); may also be used for bipolar disorder/mania under specialist care
Sodium valproate increases brain levels of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA and modulates neuronal ion channels, which stabilizes abnormal electrical activity in the brain. This helps prevent and control seizures and reduces neuronal hyperexcitability.
Oral controlled-release tablet: take exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water; do not crush, chew, or break. Can be taken with food to reduce stomach upset.
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, diarrhea, increased appetite, weight gain, dizziness, drowsiness, tremor, hair loss, headache

Risk of serious liver injury and pancreatitis—seek urgent care for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, jaundice, dark urine, unusual tiredness, or loss of seizure control. May cause thrombocytopenia/bleeding and hyperammonemia; periodic liver function tests and blood counts may be needed.
