Monograph
Voglitor R 1/0.3 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Repaglinide (1mg) + Voglibose (0.3mg). It is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the group of medicines called Oral anti-diabetic.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Voglitor R 1/0.3 Tablet are flatulence, loose motions, stomach discomfort and swelling of the ankles and feet. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Voglitor R 1/0.3 Tablet works.
Treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus
Most side effects of Voglitor R 1/0.3 are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Voglitor R 1/0.3 Tablet is to be taken on an empty stomach.
Repaglinide and voglibose help control blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Repaglinide increases the release of insulin after meals, helping the body manage rises in blood sugar. Voglibose slows down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates from food, which helps prevent sudden spikes in blood sugar after eating. Together, they support better post-meal blood sugar control.
If you feel shaky, sweaty, confused or unusually hungry, take sugar, glucose or a sweet drink at once and tell your doctor — these are signs your blood sugar has fallen too low. If a low-sugar episode happens while on an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor such as voglibose or acarbose, use glucose — ordinary sugar and sweets work more slowly. Tell your doctor about any new swelling of the ankles, breathlessness or sudden weight gain.
If you miss a dose of Voglitor R 1/0.3 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar and marked stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Low blood sugar is more likely when combined with insulin or a sulfonylurea.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
