Treatment of acid-peptic disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer; may be used as part of H. pylori eradication regimen with antibiotics as prescribed.

Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB). It directly and reversibly inhibits the gastric H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump), producing strong and sustained reduction of stomach acid secretion.

Take by mouth as advised by a doctor, usually once daily. Can be taken with or without food; swallow the tablet whole with water. Continue for the prescribed duration even if symptoms improve.

Diarrhea, constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence, headache, dizziness, rash

Use with caution in severe liver impairment. Long-term acid suppression may increase risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, low magnesium, bone fracture risk, and gastrointestinal infections. Seek medical help for alarm symptoms (vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing). Do not self-medicate for prolonged heartburn; rule out malignancy if symptoms persist.

May alter absorption of pH-dependent drugs (e.g., ketoconazole/itraconazole/posaconazole, erlotinib). Caution with digoxin and other narrow-therapeutic-index drugs. If used for H. pylori, check interactions with prescribed antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin) and other concomitant medicines.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
