Monograph
Tablet
Relief of painful muscle spasm associated with acute musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain, neck pain, sprains/strains and other muscle spasm-related pain.
Thiocolchicoside is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It acts on neurotransmitter pathways (primarily GABA and glycinergic systems) to reduce skeletal muscle spasm and improve muscle relaxation, thereby easing pain and stiffness.
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Usually taken orally with water, with or without food; taking after food may reduce stomach upset. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or duration.
Diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, allergic skin rash
May cause dizziness/drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Not recommended in pregnancy; avoid in breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor. Use with caution in patients with epilepsy/seizure disorders (rare seizures reported) and in those with severe liver disease. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration as advised.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness/dizziness), anti-epileptic medicines (seizure threshold considerations), other muscle relaxants/sedatives (additive CNS effects)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
