Tablet
Treatment and prevention of zinc deficiency; supportive therapy in diarrhea (especially pediatric), malnutrition, poor appetite, impaired immunity, delayed wound healing
Zinc is an essential trace element required for multiple enzymes and cellular functions. Supplementation corrects zinc deficiency and supports immune function, intestinal mucosal repair, growth and wound healing.
Take by mouth as directed by physician. Commonly 1 tablet once daily or as prescribed; preferably after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; avoid taking at the same time as iron/calcium supplements or certain antibiotics—keep a 2–3 hour gap.
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, stomach upset, metallic taste, diarrhea, constipation
Use with caution in patients with kidney disease. Long-term/high-dose zinc may cause copper deficiency and anemia—use only as advised. If symptoms persist or severe GI irritation occurs, consult a doctor. Do not exceed recommended dose, especially in children.
Tetracyclines (e.g., doxycycline), quinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin/levofloxacin), penicillamine, iron salts, calcium supplements, magnesium/antacids, copper supplements (zinc may reduce copper absorption)
