Zinc supplementation to prevent/treat zinc deficiency; supportive therapy in diarrhoea (especially in children), poor appetite, impaired immunity, delayed wound healing, growth and development support
Zinc is an essential trace element required for many enzymes and proteins. Supplementation restores body zinc levels, supporting immune function, intestinal mucosal repair, and normal growth and wound healing.
Take as directed by physician. Usually taken orally once daily after food with water; do not exceed recommended dose. Maintain a gap of 2 hours from iron/calcium supplements or certain antibiotics if advised.
Nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhoea, metallic taste
Use with caution in patients with kidney disease. Long-term/high-dose zinc may cause copper deficiency and anaemia; use only for recommended duration. Stop and seek medical advice if allergic reactions occur. In children, dosing should be as per age/doctor advice (commonly used in acute diarrhoea as per guidelines).
Tetracyclines (e.g., doxycycline), fluoroquinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin/levofloxacin), penicillamine, iron supplements, calcium supplements, antacids/PPIs (may reduce absorption)
