Zorbax Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Griseofulvin (500mg). It is used for fungal infections. It belongs to the group of medicines called Systemic antifungal.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Zorbax Tablet are nausea, stomach pain, loose motions and headache. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Zorbax Tablet works.
Fungal infections
Most side effects of Zorbax are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zorbax 500mg Tablet should be taken with or after food.
Zorbax 500mg Tablet works by stopping the growth and spread of fungi that cause skin, hair, and nail infections. It interferes with fungal cell division, preventing the fungus from multiplying. The medicine concentrates in newly forming skin, hair, and nails, making them resistant to fungal infection and helping healthy tissue replace the infected areas over time.
Fungal skin and nail infections need long courses — weeks for skin, months for nails. Stopping when it looks better is the commonest reason it returns. Your doctor may check your liver with a blood test during a long course. Report yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine or persistent nausea at once. Tell your doctor if you have heart failure before taking itraconazole. This group interacts with a great many medicines — give your doctor a complete list.
If you miss a dose of Zorbax 500mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, liver injury and heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
