Age 40+ DL renewal

At 40 or older, a learner's licence, driving licence application or renewal needs Form 1A. Under 40 with a private licence, you sign Form 1.

International driving permit

An International Driving Permit application needs Form 1A signed by a registered doctor.

Renewing your driving licence in Tamil Nadu

You need Form 1A to renew if you are 40 or older, or if you hold a transport licence at any age. Under 40 with a private car or two-wheeler licence, you sign Form 1 yourself.

Go to sarathi.parivahan.gov.in and choose Tamil Nadu.

Open Driving Licence related services, then DL renewal. Enter your DL number and date of birth.

Do I need Form 1A to renew my driving licence in Tamil Nadu?

Sarathi is asking for a Form 1A entered online on Sarathi by a doctor, so an uploaded PDF will not be accepted on that application. Ask your RTO which doctors can enter it, or message us before you pay and we will tell you whether we can help with your application.

Anyone applying for a learner's or driving licence at 40 or older, anyone renewing a driving licence at 40 or older, and anyone applying for or renewing a transport (commercial) licence at any age. International Driving Permit applicants need it too.
