Composition of Acelostat-SP Tablet

Acelostat-SP Tablet contains Aceclofenac 100 mg + Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 325 mg + Serratiopeptidase 15 mg (tablet). It belongs to the NSAID + Analgesic/Antipyretic + Proteolytic enzyme class of medicines.

How Acelostat-SP Tablet works

Aceclofenac is an NSAID that reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis (COX inhibition). Paracetamol reduces pain and fever via central inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Serratiopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme that helps reduce inflammatory swelling and edema by breaking down inflammatory mediators.

How to take Acelostat-SP Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed by your doctor, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset; swallow whole with water. Do not exceed the recommended dose and avoid using with other paracetamol-containing products unless advised.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause stomach bleeding, kidney failure, drowsiness and fits. It can cause severe and sometimes fatal liver damage, often with no symptoms at all for the first day. It can seriously suppress the bone marrow and damage the liver. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Acelostat-SP are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in patients with active peptic ulcer/bleeding, severe liver disease, severe kidney disease, or known allergy to NSAIDs. Use with caution in elderly, patients with hypertension/heart disease, asthma, history of GI ulcer/bleeding, liver/kidney impairment, and in dehydration. NSAIDs may increase risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and cardiovascular events with prolonged use; use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Paracetamol overdose can cause serious liver damage—avoid alcohol and multiple paracetamol products. Stop and seek medical help if black stools, vomiting blood, severe abdominal pain, swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe skin reactions occur.

Do not take Acelostat-SP if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with an active stomach ulcer, severe kidney or heart failure, or asthma triggered by aspirin or anti-inflammatory painkillers. Not in the third trimester of pregnancy. Not for people with severe liver disease, except under medical supervision. Not for people with an active serious infection, or with severe liver or bone-marrow disease. Several of these medicines must not be used in pregnancy.

Interactions with other medicines

Anticoagulants/antiplatelets (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel), other NSAIDs/corticosteroids, SSRIs/SNRIs, antihypertensives (ACE inhibitors/ARBs, diuretics), methotrexate, lithium, cyclosporine/tacrolimus, alcohol, hepatotoxic drugs, enzyme inducers (rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin)

How to store Acelostat-SP Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Acelostat-SP Tablet

Use the lowest dose for the shortest period. If you need a painkiller regularly, see your doctor rather than continuing on your own. Paracetamol is the safer choice for simple fever and headache. Take the lowest dose that works, and leave the stated gap between doses. Seek help immediately after a suspected overdose, even if you feel completely well — treatment works best when it is early. Keep every monitoring blood test appointment. Carry a note of the medicine and its schedule, especially for weekly dosing.
