Used to lower high cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, raise HDL, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke in at-risk patients.

Atorvastatin is an HMG‑CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). It reduces cholesterol production in the liver and increases hepatic uptake of LDL cholesterol from the blood, thereby lowering LDL and triglycerides and modestly increasing HDL.

Tablet for oral use. Take as advised by the doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue diet and lifestyle measures; do not stop without medical advice.

Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent rise in liver enzymes. Seek medical help for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, especially with fever or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Use caution in kidney disease, hypothyroidism, heavy alcohol use, and in elderly patients. Liver function tests may be monitored. Avoid grapefruit juice in large amounts.

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (clarithromycin, erythromycin, ketoconazole/itraconazole, HIV protease inhibitors),cyclosporine,gemfibrozil and other fibrates,niacin,warfarin (monitor INR),digoxin (monitor),colchicine,rifampicin,grapefruit juice

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
