How Akair Lc Syrup works

How to take Akair Lc Syrup

Oral syrup. Shake well before use and measure with a marked cup/syringe. Usually taken once daily, preferably in the evening; may be taken with or without food. Dose and duration as prescribed, especially for children.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe drowsiness, a fast heartbeat, confusion and, in children, agitation and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

May cause sleepiness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Use with caution in severe kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed for levocetirizine). Rare mood/behaviour changes (agitation, anxiety, nightmares, depression, suicidal thoughts) have been reported with montelukast—stop and seek medical advice if these occur. Do not take Akair Lc if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. The sedating antihistamines are not suitable for very young children, or for people with glaucoma or an enlarged prostate, without medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedatives/antihistamines (additive sedation), rifampicin (may reduce montelukast effect), phenobarbital/phenytoin (may reduce montelukast effect)
